Step‑by‑Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and minced garlic. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Roll small portions of the meat mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil. Brown the meatballs on all sides for about 6-8 minutes, then drain any excess grease.
- In the same skillet, pour in the marinara sauce. Add the browned meatballs, lower the heat, and let them simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Slice each garlic bread roll in half horizontally and lay them open.
- For each roll half, place a piece of mozzarella cheese, add a meatball with some marinara sauce, and top with another slice of mozzarella cheese.
- Arrange the assembled rolls on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the mozzarella is melted and bubbly.
- Let them cool for a minute and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve hot.
