Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs helps bind the meatballs together; you can use panko for extra crunch
  • 1 Egg acts as a binder to keep your meatballs intact
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning infuses the meatballs with traditional Italian flavors
  • 1 teaspoon Salt enhances the overall taste of the meatballs
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper adds a delightful kick to complement the flavors
  • 3 cloves Minced garlic brings fragrant depth and richness to your meatballs
For the Assembly
  • 1 cup Marinara sauce adds a vibrant, tangy flavor, making each bite saucy and delicious
  • 6 rolls Garlic bread rolls serve as a crispy, buttery vessel for all the delicious fillings
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese melts beautifully, creating that gooey and comforting layer
  • ¼ cup Fresh basil leaves optional; provides a pop of color and a refreshing finish to your bites

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Baking Sheet
  • Mixing Bowl

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and minced garlic. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  3. Roll small portions of the meat mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil. Brown the meatballs on all sides for about 6-8 minutes, then drain any excess grease.
  5. In the same skillet, pour in the marinara sauce. Add the browned meatballs, lower the heat, and let them simmer for about 5 minutes.
  6. Slice each garlic bread roll in half horizontally and lay them open.
  7. For each roll half, place a piece of mozzarella cheese, add a meatball with some marinara sauce, and top with another slice of mozzarella cheese.
  8. Arrange the assembled rolls on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the mozzarella is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let them cool for a minute and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve hot.
