Step-by-Step Instructions for Hamburger Potato Casserole
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and sauté the chopped onion for about 5 minutes until soft and translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook for approximately 7-10 minutes until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  4. In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, cream of celery soup, milk, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish.
  6. Spread half of the cooked ground beef mixture over the first layer of potatoes.
  7. Pour half of the creamy soup mixture over the beef layer.
  8. Repeat with the remaining sliced potatoes, ground beef mixture, and pour the rest of the creamy soup mixture on top.
  9. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  10. Remove the foil, sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes until melted and bubbly.
  11. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve.
