Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by placing the two boneless skinless chicken breasts in a large pot, ensuring they sit in a single layer for even cooking.
- Next, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of salt and ½ teaspoon of black pepper over the chicken. Then, add the crushed garlic cloves, sliced onion, and bay leaves.
- Pour enough water into the pot to cover the chicken breasts by at least an inch.
- Place the pot on the stove over medium-high heat and bring the water to a gentle boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid. Allow the chicken to simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
- After the simmering time, check that the internal temperature of the chicken has reached 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the chicken breasts from the pot and transfer them to a cutting board. Let them rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.
