- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash the large potatoes thoroughly and slice them thinly, about ⅛ inch thick.
- Layer half of the thinly sliced potatoes in a baking dish.
- Combine heavy cream with garlic powder in a large mixing bowl.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the first layer of potatoes.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the cream-covered potatoes.
- Layer the remaining potato slices and pour the remaining cream mixture over it.
- Dot the top with butter and cover with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 45 minutes, covered.
- Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
