Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash the large potatoes thoroughly and slice them thinly, about ⅛ inch thick.
  3. Layer half of the thinly sliced potatoes in a baking dish.
  4. Combine heavy cream with garlic powder in a large mixing bowl.
  5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the first layer of potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the cream-covered potatoes.
  7. Layer the remaining potato slices and pour the remaining cream mixture over it.
  8. Dot the top with butter and cover with aluminum foil.
  9. Bake for 45 minutes, covered.
  10. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Allow to cool for a few minutes and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
