  1. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish or baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine butter, sugar, salt, and water over medium heat, stirring continuously.
  3. Cook until it turns a deep golden brown color and reaches a hard crack stage of 300°F, about 10-15 minutes.
