Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine mixed berries, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and lemon zest.
  4. Cut the puff pastry into rectangles, approximately 3 inches wide and 6 inches long.
  5. Place a spoonful of the berry mixture along the center of each pastry rectangle.
  6. Fold the sides of each rectangle over the berry filling and pinch the edges to seal.
  7. Arrange the twisted pastries on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  8. Brush the tops of each pastry with the beaten egg for a golden color.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
  10. Cool slightly on the baking sheet and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
