Cooking Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large baking dish, add the uncooked penne pasta, chicken, marinara sauce, and water. Stir to combine.
  3. Sprinkle garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper over the mixture and stir again.
  4. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  5. Remove the foil, stir the mixture, and ensure the pasta is tender and chicken is cooked.
  6. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese on top and return to the oven.
  7. Bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving and garnish with fresh basil if desired.
