  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh, can use powder
  • 2 medium Carrots Feel free to add other veggies
  • 1 cup Peas Fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato paste Ketchup is an alternative
  • 1 cup Beef broth Vegetable broth is a good swap
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Can use soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dried thyme Fresh is better
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper Freshly ground preferred
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil Butter can be used
For the Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 lb Potatoes Russets or Yukon Gold
  • ½ cup Milk Buttermilk for creaminess
  • 4 tablespoon Butter Use plant-based for dairy-free
  • 1 teaspoon Salt To taste
  • ½ teaspoon Pepper To taste
For the Fun Decorations
  • ½ cup Black olives For eyeballs
  • ¼ cup Ketchup or sriracha For blood effect
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese For cobwebs

Method
 

Prepare the Mashed Potatoes
  1. Start by placing the peeled and chopped potatoes in a medium saucepan. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Cook for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender. Drain, return to the pan, and add butter and milk. Mash until smooth, adding food coloring if desired.
Cook the Meat Filling
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add ground meat, cooking for 5–7 minutes until browned. Stir in carrots and peas, then add tomato paste, broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
Assemble the Shepherd’s Pie
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Spread the meat filling in a baking dish. Spoon the mashed potatoes on top and create fun patterns with a fork.
Bake the Pie
  1. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and fragrant. In the last 2–3 minutes, sprinkle cheese on top.
Add Final Decorations
  1. Let cool for 5 minutes, then add black olives for eyeballs and drizzle with ketchup or sriracha. Serve warm.
