  • 3 ripe bananas sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted for greasing
  • ½ cup chopped pecans for topping
  • Maple syrup to taste

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the baking dish with melted butter.
  2. Slice the French bread into 1-inch thick pieces and arrange them in the baking dish.
  3. Slice the bananas into thick rounds and tuck them between the bread slices.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  5. Pour the custard evenly over the bread and bananas and press down gently.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and chill in the refrigerator overnight or for at least 6 hours.
  7. Remove from refrigerator and sprinkle pecans over the top before baking.
  8. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes until golden brown and the custard is set.
  9. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving warm with maple syrup.
