Making the Buns
- Prepare the Yeast Mixture by combining warm milk with sugar and adding active dry yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes.
- Mix the Dough Ingredients by combining flour and salt. Create a well for the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix to form a dough.
- Knead the Dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the Dough Rise in a greased bowl covered with a cloth for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Cook the Sausage in a medium skillet until browned, then set aside to cool.
- Shape the Buns by dividing the risen dough into 12 pieces, filling each with sausage and mozzarella, and sealing them.
- Create Flower Shapes by pinching the top of each sealed bun to form petals.
- Second Rise by covering shaped buns and letting them rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat the Oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with seeds if desired.
- Bake the Buns for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.
