  • 1 teaspoon cardamom or Italian seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour optional, for binding
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
For Frying
  • enough to submerge vegetable oil
For Serving
  • 1 cup tahini sauce for drizzling

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Falafel
  1. Soak 1 ½ cups of dried chickpeas in a large bowl of water overnight.
  2. Combine soaked chickpeas, chopped onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, dill, cumin, cardamom, salt, and black pepper in a food processor.
  3. Pulse the mixture until coarsely blended.
  4. Transfer to a mixing bowl and fold in 1 teaspoon of baking soda.
  5. Allow mixture to rest for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
  7. Shape the mixture into small balls or patties.
  8. Lightly spray each falafel with cooking oil.
  9. Air fry at 375°F for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Remove from air fryer and cool on a paper towel-lined plate.
